Risks

Why TYPO3
TYPO3 is an open-source content management system developed since 1998. It pays off where a website grows: more languages, more editors, integrations with other systems.
Each LTS version gets security fixes for about three years. The dates are known in advance: TYPO3 13 until 31 Dec 2027, TYPO3 14 until 30 Jun 2029.
The TYPO3 Security Team releases fixes for all supported versions. Your website doesn’t rely on dozens of plugins from different authors.
Language versions and multiple websites in one installation are built into the system, no extra plugins needed.
Each editor sees and edits only what they should. Changes can be prepared and approved before publishing.
TYPO3 is open source under the GPL licence. Your website is not locked in with one vendor – not even with us.

Yes. A direct upgrade across ten versions isn’t worth it, so we move the content to new elements and replace old extensions with current ones. Texts, images and URLs stay.
We redirect old URLs with permanent redirects (301) and keep headings and metadata. After the launch we check for errors in Google Search Console.
TYPO3 13 LTS is currently supported by all the extensions we use, such as forms. We will move to TYPO3 14 LTS as soon as they support it. Websites in the CARE subscription will be moved at no extra cost, well before support for version 13 ends (31 Dec 2027).
LTS is a TYPO3 version with long-term support: it receives free security fixes for about three years. ELTS is paid extended support from TYPO3 GmbH for older versions. It keeps your website secure, but the website stays on the old version.
WordPress is good for a blog or a smaller website. Multiple languages, editor permissions or content approval usually rely on third-party plugins that need constant updating. TYPO3 has all this built in, and its versions have planned long-term support. We won’t push it on you for a simple business card website.
The CARE subscription includes hosting on our server in a data centre in the European Union (Scaleway), so we can vouch for updates and backups. We back up daily, in CARE Pro also off-site. If you have your own server, we will agree on tailored maintenance.
